About the Game
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a 2025 action-adventure stealth game developed and published by Konami. It is a full remake of the landmark 2004 PlayStation 2 title Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, rebuilt from the ground up on Unreal Engine 5 - the first Metal Gear title to move away from Konami's proprietary Fox Engine.
Development was handled by Konami Digital Entertainment with co-development support from Virtuos, the Singapore-based studio also known for work on the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. Neither series creator Hideo Kojima nor original artist Yoji Shinkawa were involved, though Konami committed to a faithful adaptation - reusing the original voice actor audio recordings, now in uncompressed higher quality, and preserving the original story and setting without alteration.

The game launched August 28, 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam, and sold over one million units within its first 24 hours. It received generally positive reviews from critics. The title marks Konami's return to AAA console publishing after a years-long period focused on mobile and arcade titles following the studio's split with Kojima in 2015.
What's New in the Remake
Key gameplay upgrades include a choice between two control styles: New Style (over-the-shoulder third-person camera) and Legacy Style (top-down viewpoint that recreates the original PS2 feel). Konami also rebuilt nearly all animations, added crouch-walking and third-person aiming, improved the camouflage system with an object-permanence mechanic, and introduced a quick-select menu for swapping camo on the fly.
The remake also features the return of the fan-favourite Snake vs. Monkey mini-game, a crossover with Bandai Namco's Ape Escape series, with updated visuals.
Deal Verdict
Physical copies of Metal Gear Solid Delta have been trending down since the game's initial $70 launch price. An earlier wave of discounts brought it to $30 at select retailers in late 2025, so $25 represents the sharpest broadly available price point for the Xbox Series X version to date.
