Developer Pocketpair announced during Summer Game Fest that its creature-collecting survival game Palworld will launch into version 1.0 on July 10. To mark the occasion, the team released the game's first-ever cinematic trailer.
More Than Two Years in the Making
The 1.0 release marks the end of Palworld's Early Access journey, which began in January 2024. In September 2025, the developers announced that Palworld would leave Early Access and begin a cleanup process, meaning the game would see less new content as the team shifted focus to finalising version 1.0. The studio had revealed via its roadmap back in 2025 its plans to bring Palworld out of Early Access some time in 2026.
Pocketpair offered a statement alongside the announcement:
"We are fully committed to delivering a deeper, more evolved, and definitive Palworld experience worthy of a full launch."
What the 1.0 Update Brings
Pocketpair has described Palworld 1.0 as its "biggest update yet", bringing new content, features, and improvements when it launches next month. The 1.0 launch will come with a big update featuring new Pals, new areas, and a new threat to face.
One of the headline additions is the long-awaited World Tree, which has appeared in the game's world since launch but remained inaccessible - with version 1.0, players will finally be able to explore the mysterious location. Pocketpair teases more Pals, as well as "uncharted territories" and "fragments of a grand narrative that inches closer to the truth of the world."

A Cinematic Trailer Full of Hints
The new trailer was purely cinematic, but packed with reveals - players were shown a new Pal that can transform into a sword, and the player character faces off against a giant, flying mythical creature, with defeating it opening a path to the mysterious World Tree. New floating islands also appeared as traversable locations, with a massive Serpent Pal seemingly waiting in the clouds. After vanquishing the Serpent, the trailer shows a view out to the World Tree, where the finale - and what appears to be a final boss - awaits.
Importantly, the 1.0 update will not require players to restart their progress, as save data will carry over to the full launch version.
Platforms and Current Pricing
Palworld originally launched on PC and Xbox in January 2024, and came to PS5 in September 2024. Coinciding with the 1.0 announcement, Pocketpair announced that Palworld is currently 25% off on Steam through June 9.

The Bottom Line
Palworld's 1.0 release is a milestone worth watching. The game broke records at Early Access launch in January 2024 and has been through significant updates - and legal turbulence - since. While July 10 marks the end of the current story content, Pocketpair has confirmed Palworld will continue with more updates beyond 1.0. For anyone who has been waiting for the definitive version before jumping in, the wait is almost over.
