When you hit max level, you get a new instance, and thats it.Loot drops are a huge issue because even though you are flying a particular javelin, you pick up loot for the most sought after rarities (masterwork and legendary) for ALL of the javelins you own. So if you get a legendary drop (that can take upwards of two or more days to drop cause RNG is a pain) and it might not even be for the suit youre currently flying.The only reason the drop rate issue is an issue at all is because that's literally the end game. There is no new content to unlock once you get a certain gear score, the achievements for getting all of one gear score dont seem to work (Im at masterwork and I looked and all those challenges are not completed), theres no actual in game REASON to continue playing the game once you hit 30. I will probably fire up Anthem more than a few times again, if only to experience the joyous nature of plopping down a Colossus in the middle of a firefight and unfurling fiery, shelled death upon the landscape. I am sorry to say that Anthem has fallen short in pretty much every way. Not only do I believe that Anthem was never originally conceived to be a Live Service game and was hijacked by EA to jump on that bandwagon, but also that this game was released in an unfinished state. This has left such a sour taste in my mouth because when Anthem is working well, it can be a real fun time; flying around, getting into intense battles against humans and beasts. But it has so spectacularly failed in all other areas that I simply cannot recommend this game. And with The Division 2, a game that has experience in the Live Service sector only weeks away from launching, I feel like this Anthem will just fall on deaf ears.

The javelins are not exactly one trick ponies but you unlock all of the abilities very early and then it's just increasing numbers. There are some baffling design decisions such as only being able to free play with four players. I found that unless you have exactly three friends to play with, you end up scattered all over the map. Also, the first person sections versus third person sections feel very disconnected.

It’s this user-unfriendly design that colors so much of Anthem”as “work.” Loading into a random quickplay mission only to be met with an objective lacking any in-world waypoint or trigger to progress imbues “Anthem” with the kind of high drama normally reserved for filing an invoice with a new company.

Anthem may thrive. Anthem may fail. It has the bones to be something great but I am tired of saying that about so many games in this genre and five years after Destiny 1, I can’t believe we’re here yet again. Get it right the first time, because everyone is losing patience.

Anthem is one hell of a decent loot-shooter that boasts some ambitious mechanics. Its massively engaging combat and its flow of movement takes center stage, with its several activities, its deep lore, and its diverse and interesting world following closely behind. That said, Anthem isn’t without fault, and BioWare will need to carefully address the game’s issues alongside its community feedback to ensure they maintain player interest.

Anthem is not a bad game as a whole, but rather an interesting project with wasted potential. For a game that was allegedly in development for over 6 years, it is technical disaster. And what hurts most - studio well known, admired and loved for unforgettable and great single player games with vibrant, rich and sprawling world and characters developed completely bland and forgettable looter shooter. Mass Effect franchise was put to death and Dragon Age was put in the backseat for this? For cheap Destiny and Warframe clone? Well played EA and well played Bioware, hope it was worth it.

There’s no doubt that Anthem is beautiful, and its core of flying, shooting, looting, and upgrading your mech is fun. The campaign’s pacing is off, however, speeding through pivotal moments in the story and doling out filler content to keep players busy. Despite its cast of charismatic characters, many relationships and interactions feel forced and lifeless. Anthem’s biggest setback is how it too frequently turns fun into work.

Sometimes I would just wander around Fort Tarsis without knowing where to go, who to speak, etc... Most of the times I would just “Quick Play”, play the only available Stronghold for the 10th time or wander around in Freeplay. I want to stress this out, please dismiss the haters, this game has many. It is an awesome game but for some reason also has an equally awesome amount of haters. Try it out, it’s nice. BioWare said over and over again that lots of contents are coming. But today the game lacks exactly that: content. Never fully trust a review made 2 days after release. Don’t even read reviews with 0’s or 1’s, nor the ones with 10’s and 9’s. You know, common sense. Yes this receives is also made very close after release, that’s why I’m not taking the technical issues into consideration, because they will obviously be fixed over time.

Anthem is a song that we've heard a few too many times before. Here's a game that promises a grand vision of an open world, of a co-op RPG shooter that you can play for dozens of hours with your friends, but at launch it simply doesn't live up to expectations. The core exosuit flying, the Javelin design, the interwoven combat and the gorgeous world BioWare have created are all excellent, but at launch it's lumbered by bugs, technical hitches and odd or uninspired design decision. I want to like this game, but sometimes it doesn't make it easy.

The controls of Anthem are intuitive and engaging. Flying through the world of Bastion is a sight to behold, and coordinating with your team on higher difficulties like Grandmaster is rewarding. Despite some questionable design choices and shortcomings, Anthem has a strong foundation that has potential to be a genre leader, but isn’t quite there just yet.

Even where it is strongest, Anthem rarely stretches beyond the derivative.
