Most games will use a top-down overhead view, or a 45 degree angled isometric view. The camera angle is closer to 20 degrees angled, which just doesn't work for a game like Bomberman.I've played a number of Bomberman games over the years. This is one of the weakest I've ever played. Skip it and play something older and more fun.

The maps don't make any sense, there is a lot of 'pollution' in the graphics. Luckily, the couch multiplayer is as amazing as always and fun as hell, a shame that the online component feels so empty. A game that really could use cross play with all platforms.

Couldn't configure keyboard. The first boss looked cool, others looked like they were done by a junior artist and fast. Top speed is too fast to be fun.
Both the campaign and the multiplayer lack the flourishes that make some of the older entries memorable, but the core gameplay still holds up enough to remain enjoyable for newcomers and more casual players of the series. You have to treat the game as a local multiplayer title instead of an online one and hope you don't get hit with controller issues. Considering both the price point and the fact that other indie titles have already run with this concept to a much better execution, however, your best bet is to check out the game once it goes on sale or has a good price drop.
Despite some weak points, Super Bomberman R, is a funny and madly entrance for both classic players and casual ones that are playing a Bomberman for the first time. I recommend you to play it with your friends or for those moments when you need a break and just have fun. The game doesn't pretend to be something else but a Bomberman, and that's why It works.
Super Bomberman R for the PlayStation 4 comes with all the available content that has been released to the other platforms, accompanied with an exclusive skin for the console and guarantees that players are going to have a blast while playing with the many available modes the game offers. Previous owners of the Switch version should be careful, though, as this version does not offer any new content, thus lacking the ability to give a re-purchase incentive to potential buyers.

There are a few... especially in the ice levels towards the end... but they are far too few and far in between... I would’ve liked having to use my brain more like I did in these ice levels as I’m sliding around like the caves in a Pokémon game… but for the most part all 3 hours of this game really remains the same... so it for the most part just feels like you’re going through the motions...it is possible to die, and you will a lot from blowing yourself up or enemies getting you, but you are able to spend gems to continue… gems earned both from completing chapters as well as in multiplayer…and at the end of these chapters there is again a boss battle.. These are probably the best moments of the game where you’re trying to trap your opponent and hit them bit ha bomb to then go against them in their final form to unlock the next stage…. These moments before the final show down do offer a bit of challenge and are better than the boss battle show downs themselves...Outside of the campaign there is a multiplayer mode where you’re facing 4 opponents to try and take each other out... be the last bomber standing…you can play locally as well as online, but I found it to be impossible to find enough players online to get any matches either ranked or unranked.. So unfortunately bomber man doesn’t realistically go beyond its 3 hour campaign which is a shame... sure you can grind for cash to unlock the many characters... but for what?Online is a ghost town.I give Super Bomber man R

Overall Super Bomberman R is a great take on the classic formula. I enjoyed what it delivered and the extra characters add that nostalgia meter rise for me. I just wish Konami was bringing them to more franchises outside of this one. Still, this game serves its purpose and it is nice to finally see it on other consoles outside of the Switch.
Overall, I think Super Bomberman R falls short as a complete package. The single-player, while reaching for something a bit different with level design (and it achieves it), falls short with uninteresting bosses and slow enemies. The online play of the game is only good on a local level, while the actual online gaming experience is hindered by the lack of players and atrocious delay.
Super Bomberman R isn't the best game in the series but it offers a fun and entertaining challenge for all fans, especially in its multiplayer mode.
Super Bomberman R is just a bit of a non-starter. The lacklustre campaign is only good to hold your attention for so long and the modes that really matter are criminally held back by a low player count.
While future Bomberman games have the potential to assert themselves as more lengthy and strategy-demanding titles deserving of a mind-blowing rating, the current release really is just lighthearted and fun … and that’s just fine.
Super Bomberman R brings back the series' popular and addictive gameplay, with tons of contents and some new features. Lots of contents are blocked behind overly high coin amounts though, making even unlocking a single level or character a too lengthy grind.

That being said to say I’ve had fun with these fantastic little game’s over the year’s would be an understatement, and without a doubt I was really looking forward to this Nintendo Switch exclusive making its way to the Xbox One. Thankfully Super Bomberman R was definitely worth the wait and I was very impressed that they made the game both retro and modern at the same time. The gameplay has aged extremely well and the new feel to it is very fun and the best thing is that it remains fun throughout your time with the game. You will be pleased to know then that in terms of content the game has a huge amount for you to sink your teeth into. The most impressive part about the content is that each mode is extremely fun, but for me the best mode out there to play with friends is the Grand Prix mode. You can also enjoy each mode when playing on your own as well, but I would recommend that you play this game with friends because that’s where you get the best out of the game and things don’t become tedious playing it this way unlike when you play it in single player. There is also the option of playing the game online as well, but the online components of the game definitely need a little work. There are a few issues present at the moment when playing the game online and sometimes finding a game online can be a massive chore because it can take quite a while which is a shame because when you do get into a game the amount of fun present is almost endless. Replaybility is not a problem with this game because there are so many characters for you to choose and try out. I must admit that I was shocked by the amount of characters available to you and the best thing is that each character has had a lot of thought and effort placed into them which keeps things fresh and interesting for a very long time. As I said earlier in my review this game has both a retro and modern feel to it and this is really profound in both the visuals and sound design. These two aspects of the game combine together perfectly and in the end you end up having more fun because of this, which is great. At the end of the day fans of the Bomberman series will fall in love with Super Bomberman R instantly because it’s managed to stay true to the fantastic series and in the end the amount of fun it creates is simply off the charts, which results in me giving the game a massive recommendation.
Super Bomberman R makes its grand debut on PlayStation 4 without any significant changes. The fun part of the game stays with its story mode as well as the local multiplayer, due to the fact that there are barely any active online sessions. The gameplay, albeit simple and effective, feels old-fashioned and it becomes repetitive after some time.
Super Bomberman R is very much a Bomberman game. It does little new for the franchise but excels in what the franchise is known for, which is being a fantastically moreish multiplayer free-for-all that always begs for one more go.
Super Bomberman R brings back the classic Bomberman formula and implements some interesting mechanics to shake up the fields of play. The game offers a decent campaign and supports both local and online play across a range of fun PvP game modes. With some poor voice acting and awkward camera issues to the side, this is one party-battle game that you should definitely have on your radar.
If you don't own a Switch and enjoy Bomberman then Super Bomberman R Shiny Edition is certainly worth picking up. Even though it doesn't improve everything from the original release, there's so much content here that you're bound to have a blast.

Super Bomberman R is the game that Switch needed at its beginning. Quick plays and lots of action with your friends in a very entertaining game that brings back the nostalgia.
Super Bomberman R is the best multiplayer option right now for every Nintendo Switch owner. Sadly its main flaw is its input lag, that makes the online battles hard to play in some occasions. Still the 8 player on TV is as fun as in every other game of the franchise. Its single player campaign is fun but too short.

Both the campaign and the online multiplayer are nice additions to the franchise, but they can be frustrating. Especially the online multiplayer feels incomplete, but thankfully the local multiplayer makes up for that.
Despite some flaws and a clear focus on multiplayer, Super Bomberman R is a good return to the roots of the franchise. Short on single player but endless fun with friends.

Good characters, good humour, good gameplay, all things that I never expected to see again from a ip owned by Konami, seing their recent distancing from games as a whole. It's a good experience if you like Bomberman games.
