At its EVO 2026 Showcase Stage panel on June 26, developer Gameplay Group International and publisher Paramount Games Studio opened global pre-orders for Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game and confirmed the full Year 1 Pass lineup - four characters locked in, one left to a fan vote.

Year 1 Pass characters confirmed

The four confirmed Year 1 Pass characters are Uncle Iroh, Ty Lee, Lin Beifong, and Bolin. Iroh and Ty Lee come from The Last Airbender, while Bolin and Lin Beifong represent The Legend of Korra. No release dates were provided for any of the DLC characters.

The fifth and final Year 1 Pass slot has not been confirmed - fans will vote on who fills it, choosing from Tenzin, Kuvira, Amon, King Bumi, and Asami Sato. The community vote is exclusive to pre-order buyers and opens in late summer.

What pre-orders include

Anyone who pre-orders gains access to a closed beta running July 2-5, plus gold costume variants for Aang, Korra, Zuko, Katara, Toph, and Sokka, along with a Samurai Appa support character skin.

The Deluxe Edition adds a digital art book, soundtrack, unique HUD, and the full Year 1 Pass. Here is how the two editions compare:

Edition Includes Price (GBP)
Standard Base game £24.99
Deluxe Base game + art book + soundtrack + unique HUD + Year 1 Pass £41.99

Launch details and platforms

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game launches July 23, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam with full cross-play at launch. The Switch 2 version and physical editions follow at a later date in 2026.

The Year 1 Pass spans both animated series, drawing from The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra.

The game is a 1v1 competitive fighter featuring hand-drawn 2D animation that follows the aesthetic of the series, with 12 characters at launch, proprietary rollback netcode, and full cross-play across all supported platforms. Gameplay Group International was founded by industry veterans Victor Lugo and Philip Mayes specifically to revive canceled games, and the team includes veterans of Killer Instinct and Them's Fightin' Herds.

The game is developed by Gameplay Group International in collaboration with Avatar Studios and Paramount, with digital publishing handled by Paramount Games Studio and physical publishing by PM Studios.

The fan vote matters more than it looks

The community vote for the fifth character is a genuine pre-order incentive with a real deadline. Access is gated behind a pre-order on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, or Nintendo Switch, meaning anyone who waits until after launch loses the ability to shape the Year 1 Pass roster. The vote opens in late summer, but the pre-order commitment that unlocks it must be made before then.

With a base price well below the current AAA floor and a Deluxe Edition that bundles the entire first year of content, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is clearly targeting deal-conscious fans who want to pick a side early - and letting them literally vote for it.
