Publisher Dear Villagers and independent French developer LifeLine Games have released their cinematic platformer Deer & Boy across all major platforms. The game is live now on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, accompanied by a launch trailer posted by the teams.
What is Deer & Boy?
Deer & Boy is a dialogue-free narrative adventure built around a silent bond between a runaway boy and a fawn he stumbles upon in the wilderness. With no spoken word or text to parse, the story is conveyed entirely through visuals and music. The developer describes the concept as "an animated film you can play."
The game's central mechanic evolves alongside its narrative: the fawn begins as a fragile companion that needs protecting, and gradually grows into a fully capable deer that aids the boy in return. This progression changes how the two characters interact with puzzles and obstacles across the journey's 13 chapters.

The Studio Behind It
Deer & Boy is the first project of Lifeline Game Studio, a young studio founded by veteran developer Jayson Houdet. Originally revealed during Summer Game Fest 2024, the team has been steadily refining the project since development began in 2022 - after four dedicated years of production, the full experience is now ready.
At launch, Houdet commented on the release:
"Deer & Boy has been in our hearts for years, and we are incredibly happy and proud to finally have it available to players, to experience the story and the emotions that drove us since the beginning."
